Picture worth a thousand words..Is it..?

Can ANYTHING be seen from these pictures..? Can those that know engines inside and out tell me ANYTHING about this engine. I purchased it without hearing it run, but was told it was good.. No specs or info as far as what's inside. There's numbers scribbed on some areas and "dimples" ..like a hole was started with a drill bit..?
I do know it's a 71 318 with J heads.. and appears to have double roller chain..
