Why run dual quads?

As far asI know the reason now days is just because cool.
But when multiple carbs became the hot ticket for performance in the 40's,50's and 60's you couldn't easily get a 1200 cm carb.
Easily? You couldn’t till holley came out with the 3 barrel carbs sometime around 67-68 ish.
Up until that time it was 750 cfm.
