Street Freaks, Customs, Rods, Street Machines...60's 70's 80's

For some reason this picture reminded me of....

Back in '91 or so when I was managing a NAPA store I had someone call me and ask for (part x). I asked what sort of car it was for...

Caller: "It's for a 1976 Camaro, 4 door..."

Me: "4 door?"

Caller: "Correct."

Me: "Are you sure it's a Camaro?"

Caller: "Of course I'm sure it's a Camaro! It's my car, I oughtta know!"

Me: "I don't think GM ever made a 4 door Camaro. Could it be a Chevelle?"

Caller: "It's not a Chevelle! It says Camaro on the sides, and I know it's a Camaro!"

Me: "And it's a 4 door...?"

Caller: "Yeah, it's a goddamn 4 door! That's what I said! What's the problem here? Are you stupid or something?" (This was way before Forest Gump otherwise I would have answered this differently, but...)

I had had enough of this so I replied, "Buddy! If you really have a 4 door Camaro, you drag it down here, as not only do I want to take a picture of it, but I'll give you the damn (part x) for it... for free! And not only that, I'll even offer to haul it over to Detroit, as GM is gonna wanna see it as well!"

Never heard back about this mystery "4 door Camaro", but we all got a good laugh at the fool who bought a re-badged Chevelle (or whatever the hell it was).
