A518 46RH rebuild
So yesterday I was able to take the overdrive unit and my "self made" press tool and unload the 830lbs spring and disassemble the overdrive clutch pack. that's when I notice the wear on the over drive hub... Think I found the source for the flake and shavings.. Looks like the clutch pack for the final drive ( the clutches out side the "C" clip ) were slipping on the hub... My guess is 1st through 3rd were fine but once these clutches were engaged at 44mph that it chattered really bad and the guy must have thought he was about to chuck a drive shaft... lol Easy fix tho.. New hub ordered, I also notice the kick down leaver has porosity and damage at the servo seat/pin. so ordered a new one it was a 2.5 so I ordered a 2.9 and I also have a 3.2 if needed. Other than these I did notice some heat in both of the bands so they will be replaced as well as all the thrust washers show normal wear for a high mileage trans mission.
