A518 46RH rebuild

Last night I went through and rebuilt the front pump and replaced all the clutch packs in the 1st n 2nd hub, only to find a missing plastic spacer in the front hub behind the wafer spring. It had been replace with a snap ring. So I order the correct spacer which now stall my build till I receive that.
-Does any one know if this is some kind of upgrade or trick to make the trans stronger? I wasn't able to find anything on replacing the plastic spacer with a snapring

All the clutches look new but have heat burn in them, steels all used. but all the hard parts look fine and come apart and goes back together easily.
I'm replacing all the bands as well due to them having the same burn. I also took the time to burn in a drain plug to the pan as I hate removing the pans full... ugh.
The guy I got this from had it in a Durango behind a 5.9. it was lifter and built like a pre-runner so I have no drought this was abused at some point. But other wise everything looks good. I'll post more pictures tonight.

This is a great thread. Thanks for posting all of the photos!

Can you do me a huge favor and see how far those governor tubes stick out from the extension housing mounting surface? I made the mistake of setting mine face down on the flat garage floor and they got slightly tweaked. I'm trying to get them as close as possible to how they should be. Thanks!

Also, where were you able to buy the new hub?
