1967 Barracuda fastback fender tag deciphering

ALL 67-69 Barracudas were assembled at Hamtramck.
For the last 30 years I have been hearing the M2 code was for the 2nd assembly line.

I'm curious as to why that info would be needed on the fender tag. I wonder if any other Mopars have the M2 code that year. Anyone have a '67 B or C body with that code?
