Well you quoted me directly, so yeah, you kinda did ask me specifically.

There's lots of places on these cars where installing the wrong length bolt can cause you real problems. Like one of the timing cover bolts that can damage the cylinder wall? Use the right length bolt and there's no issue.

I snapped this picture. This is exactly how I was planning to install my dash. I was actually trying to get a good picture of the trim being test fit but did catch a couple of the U-clips for the Dash...

Same picture but zoomed in on 1 u-clip. The machine screw does not extend above the top of the threads.
Maybe @clementine will add a picture of the same with the windshield installed.

Nice! Like I said, there's definitely more than a few people that have done this successfully. Options!

And all of that will still be covered by the windshield rubber. You could use a different style clip though and eliminate that threaded bit sticking up, like this kind


instead of this kind



You'd only need to have a few threads above the clip, it's not like it's a critical, highly stressed part.
