Ya sell it and let the new owner fix all the nit pick stuff if that's the business you are in most classics sell "as is" that removes all legalities...lets face it you have to be pretty attached to a classic to tear it al the way down and see it through you almost have to love the car and want to save it for lack of a better way of putting it.
