318 power!
and why is that motor taking sooo long..
Because it is a side project there spending they’re own money on. Money making work first, charity project second.
My feelings on this build….
Once the project to a turn into aftermarket pistons- which were donated, not a catalog off the shelf purchase and then the aftermarket rods came in for the icing on the cake, IMO, it got killed there and killed there dead as a door nail.
I was upset at the donated piston deal. That right there, that left the project idea in the dust. It became disinterested. I really wanted to see the stock pistons, or the direct replacement stock pistons used. It would be a truly low compression engine. IDK how far you can go with milling the block and heads to get anywhere. I myself wouldn’t go nuts over it.
Now, if they also just agreed on dumping the 2bbl carb and intake from the get go, I’d say even with an 8-1 ratio they could make 300 hp. It would need sizable camshaft though with as cast OEM heads. Speaking of which.
Personally I would have never ported the 318 heads and even more so with the valve size limitations. A challenge it is! Charlie put in a **** ton of time on this. I also don’t think anyone here would put that much effort into a OEM head. Some bowl work maybe??? IDK!!!
I myself would walk right on over to the aluminum head isle.
