My 1972 F7 Dart Swinger
Im having an issue with the gear selector lever moving as I turn the steering wheel right/left. It’ll stay locked in whichever gear I’m in but if I turn the wheel right the indicator needle and gear lever will also turn to the right until it’s against the right side of lever stop. Same when I turn left. Also, a noise in the column when turning the wheel. We must not have had something right when we took the column apart for paint and reassembled. I bought a steering column rebuild kit and have the shop manual this time so, it should go back together better than new.
Since the column had to come back out to fix these things, I also decided to go with a Tuff wheel and adapter. Also while it’s apart, I decided to rebuild the coupler. I thought it needed done before but didn’t do it. Using this rebuild thread, it wasn’t all that difficult. So, thanks for the write up @Cuda Al
My rubber seal was about half missing and the grease that was left inside was almost solid and full of dirt and grit. Rebuild kit was a NOS Kit that I bought a while back
