We got the AMX out for the first time this season. New tires new battery new carb Installed a vacuum pump. New all time best 5.80 at a 116.5 miles per hour. I will never as long as I live by another carb other than an APD that thing was dead on right out of the box. I have always been a Pro Systems guy. But I had lots of quality control issues with the last one. We only got to make 2 passes so there are adjustments and tuning to do but I am very pleased with it so far.

That’s haulin!!!

What was your previous best?

Do you attribute the improvement more to the carb or the vacuum pump? Main reason I ask is that I have a vacuum pump waiting for my new motor (will be a looonnnnggg while before it all goes together though).

5.85 @ 115.3 was previous best. I think the vacuum pump and the battery. I put a 16 volt battery in and it's 40 lbs lighter.

That's moving along nicely! What's the short story on the motor build and how much does the car weigh?

The car weighs 2630.00 lbs without driver. It's 11 to 1 , solid roller, 421" , ootb super victor, Rod Bloomer heads, APD alcohol carb. coan 8" converter, 4.88 gear, 14x32 rear tire, Keith Long TF904 trans with his trans brake.

That's a gorgeous AMX you have, makes me wish I still had my 68 AMX that I began this racing adventure with.

Thanks Les. I am building a new car. The AMX is for sale if you know anyone interested.
