Wheel and tire suggestions for an early '80s D150
Hey guys:
I recently bought my brother's 1983 318/4spd swb D150. I'm needing to get some wheels and tires on it. For the past 15 years or so it's had a set of those chrome "bullethole" wheels...probably 15x9. Two of them disappeared, and the remaining pair are shabby and rusting. The tires are 275/60-15. I really like the looks of the tires regarding the width, but I think 15" wheels and tires look rather small on one of these.
The look I'd like to go for is roughly the same width tire, but on a set of black steel "nascar" or dirt track wheels...the kind that look like regular old spoke wheels but possibly in a larger diameter. The only kicker is that this truck is so old it still has the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern like the cars use. I've come up pretty short on wheel selection. I'm not interested in crazy short sidewalls, but I'd like to hear ideas about what size wheels and tires can go under these without rubbing. The truck is not lowered.
