My Gear Vendors Install Thread - '67 Barracuda Notchback 340/416 Stroker

You've done a great job! I installed a GV in my 84 D350 many years ago, and that was a breeze compared to a car. I bought a new Dodge diesel to replace the old D350 in 2004, so I yanked the new 360 and 727 with the GV out of the old truck and installed it in my 71 Challenger. I can tell by looking at your new one, that the OD unit itself is a lot smaller than the one I got back around 2002. I had the beat the living hell out of the tunnel in the Challenger to get it in where it needed to sit. The GV works good, but the novelty of the gear splitting wears off quickly after you figure out splitting gears ain't worth the trouble. The GV toned down the 4.10's in the D350 and then the 3.55's in the Challenger after the move. Get the driveshaft shop to install a new end that matches the Turbo 350 slip yoke that came with the GV instead of using an adapter U joint. Moving the rearend back helped a bunch in your car! Be sure to check the clearance between the back bubble on the 8 3/4, to the front of the gas tank. They're close enough to start with.

Clearance is all good, thanks! I was wondering if the old units were maybe larger with all the previous installs I've seen here. The new unit comes with a 1350 front yoke.
