In today's world it makes no sense to pay others for what you can do yourself.
As Ben Franklin said: A penny saved is a penny earned. But he left out the part where you wear out your vehicle earning the money and then being taxed on those earnings.
Then also being taxed again when you hire someone else to do the work you should have done in the first place.
