fair, granted you can probably get another 3/4" by trimming or rolling the quarter panel lip (it's over an inch wide on my car)....run some 20's with 3" sidewalls and an IRS that won't have the side-side flex of leaf springs on shackles then maybe as well....

and if he's only going 1/4 mile at a time in a straight line, I'm guessing you can get away with less clearance as well, since you typically don't have to give as much clearance for lateral movement...
Well i have the tires on 295 65 15 and i did roll up the lip but i did not really need to because the the fender sit above the tire like the 275 60 15s did , I do have shackles on it . To this point so far and from what i have done I have not had any issues.

If you have soft suspension in the back and want your back end to squat then stock wheel wells may need to be modified. As for me this is how i have had my car for a while so it does not bother me.

I know radial do not grow like a bias slick and I think the 265 is really a 29.5 but I have not check the true numbers on that even though they say those tires are 30.
