"The vintage 8 1/2s are virtually worthless, unless you have a car with a full open wheelwell. They are so close to the fender, that a proper width tire for the rim width will rub, IF it can even be bolted on. So the choice is: way too small a tire, or set on a shelf. They are sitting on a shelf."

I am running a pair of 15x8.5'' American outlaw ones , with a 4 1/2'' /4 3/4'' unilug bolt circle and am needing a wheel for a spare , running 295 65 d15`s on them , and have a spare tire...but ''has to be 3 3/4'' back spacing'' , a finger width clearance inside and out , never rubs , stock 68 fastback wheel wells with the front stretched ,and wheel lips rolled.
