318 bogging at high rpm, but only in first gear?

So I finally got out to the garage again, and installed the carb rebuild kit. The pictures are from the “before”. Lots of debris and varnish, but it cleaned up nicely. Couldn’t read the jet sizes, and the secondaries were stuck in place, so I left them, but the rods were a weird size. Either way, the bogging went away, although I also noticed my transmission fluid was a bit low and tipped it up, is it possible it was just a super slow shift?

Now I’m still struggling with timing, and getting the idle mixture set, but those are issues for another day!
