Spark plugs covered in oil - how screwed am I?

Is that like wanting to take a bath without taking your clothes off ?
Seriously, you really need to take it apart to get to all of the areas to do a thourough job.
That stuff really gets hard and is not easy to clean. Brushes, picks, solvents... no easy solution.
