67 Barracuda Reverse Lights

Should the reverse lights light up if I run a hot wire from the battery to the violet wire coming from the reverse switch inside of the console? Is that a fuse box that the violet wire goes to on the wiring diagram above (labeled page 7). Looks like it goes into a square labeled “4” before it goes to the reverse lights in the Body Wiring diagram.

I tried the hot wire on the violet wire and the reverse lights did not light up.
