The opening in the core support is the same between the 6cyl and 8cyl. It's just the non-A/C 6 cylinders that have a 19" wide core. They just have a wider bracket on one side to take up the extra space.

So it does matter? For instance what if this was a 6 to 8 swap by a previous owner? If that were the case would a V8 radiator work in a /6 opening!
