I finally am done with big house projects, garage will be set up tonight/tomorrow and it’s not hot in the shop anymore.

So I can start on this car again. Where is a good place to start when redoing the entire car and or does someone have like a chronological order in which they go in from bare bones car to finished?

I want to have some sort of directions instead of jumping from area to area without making any real progress or headway.

Thanks.

It's easy to get overwhelmed. My only advice is to focus on one little thing at a time. Small victories will get you there eventually and help you keep the motivation along the way.

I would trim the rest of the paint out on the car, then start re-assembling the body.
Get the car running, add interior etc, than final paint the exterior.

What is trim paint out? Why Final paint after interior and everything is done?

Small victories, that’s what I say about life with a wife and 3 kids… lol. I’m not too over whelmed, just trying to get a gauge on how people do it most efficiently. I have most of the stuff

I was thinking add torsion bars and suspension, fuel system, brake lines/brake system, and everything underneath the car. Then add floor shifter components. Start working on interior after that while car is waiting for final paint?

I have found that for me to stay focused, I need to make lists and check stuff off as I go. For me, I would first concentrate on getting all of the jamb work done on the paint. Take everything that will unbolt off of it and paint the door jambs, bottoms of hood & decklid, insides of fenders, floor pans and trunk, windshield and back glass channels, etc. Leave the glass out to paint the car. Personally, I would leave the interior out too, or it will smell like paint from now on no matter how careful you are. Make list's to accomplish tasks in groups. Smaller victories help you win the war!

Its something you can do yourself.

i am definitely not a painter and I don’t have any desire to start with this car… I know that’s bad of me but I really want the car to look nice when it’s done. If I mess something up and have to see if for now until forever I will always notice it and it will bug me.

I like the list idea, I was hoping someone had one made already

Hi doc....I'd get all the mechanical and suspension done first unless it's impacted by future paint. If there's no headliner or glass in the car that would be after paint and I'd finish the interior last. You only need one seat to drive it.

I'm not sure if you're going with a vinyl top but that would be after paint but before windshield and back glass. You've got a lot to work with there. It's going to be verrry nice.
How are you accessing spark plugs on that bad boy?

I like to start from the bottom-up, steering/suspension, brakes............ all mechanical, wheels and tires ,interior, making it pretty is last on my list.
I'm not a resto guy.

Primer was my favorite color for the longest time. lol

Primer was my only color for a long time.

Well it’s in primer, the rear end is already installed unless I decide to run a Dana 60…

I’ll order all the brake systems and the rest of the suspension this next coming weeks.

Get it done, running and moving is motivation.

I was going to suggest like others above, brakes and suspension. Get the car ready for that big block.

I'd have that Dana 60 checked out before I stuck it in anything. It took a hard hit.
