early transmissions have their own special set of leaks in addition to the usual culprits. namely the parking cable apparatus or the shifter cable seals. also, people frequently assemble the tail section with the wrong gasket.

so check the known bits and bobs to eliminate those suspects and then move on to the extra special fun time of the early trans stuff.
