In the '80's my female partner in the United States Border Patrol was issued a mini-14 (by request) the day we chased down a vehicle entering the United States from Mexico at Anapra. We chased the vehicle which was headed toward El Paso. It doubled back and spun out a few yards from the international border at the same point where it had entered illegally. I pulled my Ruger revolver and my partner the mini-14 as the driver bailed out and ran back to Mexico. A Border Patrol helicopter was also overhead at the time. We did not take any shots at the smuggler who left the vehicle behind with 168 pounds of marijuana in the trunk. We called the DEA to report our drug seizure.
