66 Dodge Dart GT Restoration

This is Mayflwr with the 66 Dodge Dart GT. The windshield gasket was manufactured by a company called Precision and the back glass gasket was either Precision or Steele rubber. Atlas Obsolete Mopar Parts provided the gaskets but couldn’t tell if the rear gasket was Precision or Steele. The windshield was made by Pilkington. The glass was a poor fit as was the front gasket. The gasket doesn’t sit against the window opening as it should. Hence the gap between the rubber and the edge of the window frame. This car came out of grandmas garage with 54000 original miles. No accidents and no rot. The metal was all clean including the pan after media blast. I understand that for early a body cars there is limited original parts for restorations. So as they say it is what it is and I’ll consider myself lucky. The car was originally a slant six. It now has a Chrysler 360 slightly enhanced as l say built by Bob Mazzolini from Riverside Ca. It has a 904 tranny with Cope Racing internals and a large drive shaft for a big block car. The front and rear suspension are provided by Reilly Motor Sports with a triangulated 4 link rear end with 355 posi center section from Moser Engineering and Moser axles. Front suspension is a rack and pinion with power steering. Adjustable coil over shocks on all four corners and Wilwood drilled and slotted 12” rotors and 4 piston calipers. Also has sub frame connectors. I also installed a Peterson Fluid Systems primer pump with oil filter to prime the engine after it has been sitting for a while. Doug’s headers and electric cut outs. I didn’t build this car to make a profit as l have countless hours into the build. It’s the joy of the build process and the feeling of accomplishment l have derived. I’m almost at the finish line and will post some photos. The car is House of Color base coat clear coat Jet Black with crème color headliner and crème leather upholstery. This car is my last build so l kinda went all out. At 71 years of age it’s time for me and my treasure as in my wife to go and enjoy the fruits of our accomplishments.
