Old iron
I figure most of you are like me and appreciate about anything with an engine, especially if it's old. Here's a few pics of my grandpa's 1935 McCormick Deering W30. He passed away earlier this year at the age of 97. We don't know for sure when he got this but know he had it in 1976 when he pulled the family on a hayrack in the Bicentennial parade in our hometown. He had drug it home from a salvage yard with a stuck engine and repaired and painted it up to use as a toy. My brother and I rescued it from his machine shed before his estate sale and my son and I got it running. We're supposed to have it in a hometown parade Saturday although the weather doesn't look promising. My 22 year old son already claimed driving duties so I'll be the "pit crew". It's a 284 cube 4 cyl rated at approx 30 horses and high gear is a little over 4 mph. To any of you familiar with vintage tractors, it's the same engine as a Farmall F30. I just thought you all would appreciate it. I've loved that tractor as far back as I can remember. The sideways picture is from a family parade appearance in 2001.
