Got into a discussion about flow benches on FB the other day. No two flow benches are the same. And two heads with the same CFM may not run the same. But time slips don't lie. I've seen a W2 head that flowed 323 CFM on my friends bench make 50 hp than a Brodix head that flowed 337 on the same bench. But people still want to race flow benches and dyno's.


There are guys that purposely never calibrate their flow benches. With a manometer pilot style of bench it gets very tricky because weather affects it hourly. That why I sold my one bench and built an orfice style of bench with electronics. Set it and check it easily with your calibration plates and it doesn’t move. But then again high flow numbers sell more jobs.
