I know a lot of people put a lot of effort in to keeping me from making a mistake. Sometimes its hard going into this situation with a healthy dose of realism. There will be more rust popping through in 3-5 years. It wont be me.

In these situations I go in with the mentality 'you will have to convince me why I should buy' rather than just I want it because I can. It's not always easy to take the emotional part out of your decision making process, but it will save you from making a big mistake. Of course you also need to see it up close with a critical eye too.
