Could someone with a 67 Dart GT measure the overall width of the D O D G E letters on the front hood? I have replacements for the missing letters on my 67 but the hood was sourced from a 68 so i will need to drill new mounting holes. I know if it's not stock correct placement it will drive me crazy.

I'll get you photos and measurements of the stock holes.

Give me about an hour

I highly recommend you make a cardboard template that fits key points on the hood and make the holes in that. Then see how the letters fit on the cardboard.

How I measured

(The scale is NOT centered on the hood, use the dimensions for the spacing, I'll let you determine the centering)

Down from the straight edge.

I taped a straight edge across the outer two upper holes.

Then measured down from the straight edge to the upper hole for the letters in the center.

This is tremendous, thank you so much! I'll definitely use a cardboard template

Pm me your name and address.

I made a card board template for you.

I made a center mark, cut the leading edge with a razer blade using the front edge of the hood as a flat guide. Then a used a flashlight from behind to locate the holes and with a hot soldering iron burnt through the card stock.

Something to consider. I don't know if other year hoods have the larger holes behind the small holes to access the nuts to go on the posts.

I got busy using it on my 67 GT:

Hole locations marked in ink first -

I used a centerpunch to score the exact center of hte holes, then drilled a 1/16" pilot hole first, that allowed easy precision for the full sized holes:

The results: perfectly aligned hood letters! Even with my car's considerable patina, the correct trim in the correct place really makes a huge difference

Thanks Dana! What a huge help!

Cheers,
Paul
