12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

Put down another 180ish street miles at Cruising the Coast yesterday with about 15 autocross runs in between.
Now that I have a fair amount of street miles and autocross miles on the G3 swap, I have a short list of items to upgrade/fix.

  • I think I'm finally going to break down and buy the PSC power steering reservoir. The course at CtC had some high speed sections which proved my fluid aeration problem still exists. I was about 2.5 seconds behind the guys giving rides in pro level race trucks but I was only able to run about 60% of the course at 10/10ths due to the fluid aerating.
  • I have the parts to get rid of the corvette filter/regulator. I will still need some fittings once I figure out what I need.
  • Also coming up is a new set of wheels. I decided the cost to widen the fronts combined with the downtime wasn't worth it. I'll keep my current wheels and set them up with some normal street tires and put the 200TW tires on the new wheels. I'll finally have a 9" front and will step up to a 10.5" in the back.
  • Finally, I really think I need a bigger front sway bar. After chatting with @bjkadron , I learned he's way smarter at the mathing required to figure out the right size bar. Once I get new wheels/tires, I'm going to corner scale the car and provide him with a bunch of numbers and let the magic happen.
I'm sure we can figure out the right size. The extra grip from the wider tires will only make it more obvious that you are running on the soft side.

And I'm not that smart... I just have more books haha
