Once I found out about the piece, it made sense. My plan was to find a factory M/T console and get an idea of where to locate and how big it needed to be and make one out of fiberglass and cardboard. I must add, the boot was not ripped by the console, I reused the boot from when the car was bench/floor shift and was already torn
