HEllo
Hello,
I have a 1980 Dodge Aspen that is identical to the first car I owned when I was 15 years old.
I know this car is not an A Body, it is an F Body.
This forum has helped me to answer different axle and engine questions regarding my options for my car, thank you guys for the good information.
I have learned a lot from this forum and the FMJ Body forum.
I joined today so that I could send a PM to a guy who may or may not still be manufacturing some disc brake conversion brackets for my 65-67 stock B Body 8.75 axle housing. (which is currently in need of paint, and everything else).
I already sent the guy a message.
We'll see if he is still active.
I have owned this specific car twice.
I put the engine it currently has in it, mileage unknown, out of an old Satellite that got a V8 (someone else's car), and I swapped this engine in after I blew a hole in this car's original slant 6 running too high of RPMs going down the freeway all stupid and irresponsible.
I then sold the car, then purchased it back last Spring.
I had the car for sale this summer, had someone here willing to pay my asking price, I didn't like his plans for it, he was talking about undercoating and driving it year round as a daily driver in the rust belt, I told him he couldn't have it.
I pulled the ad, and I think I'm stuck with this 1980 Aspen Sedan.
Every time I start it it makes me smile.
Out of the four vehicles I own it is the only one that has not lost money while I owned it. In fact, according to what that guy was willing to pay, it has appreciated by more than $500.
Overall; this one really is in very nice shape. Better than the one I owned in 1995.
The rear end has an original never serviced 7.25, rotted ISO spring clamps, rusted tired springs etc.... original fuel line feeding the pump too.
So I'm gonna start from the back and build it forward.
I envision a 250-300hp turbo slant 6 904 auto posi 8.75 with tall gearing for highway cruising with B Body spring and shock components in the rear and some new bushings on my front K member. Then maybe aftermarket AC.
I'm not in a rush. Getting the back end tight, will be a huge improvement to start with.
I have 4 14" stock steel rims on it with 4 matching very nice Chrysler Corp hubcaps that were original to the car too.
My brakes need to fit in my 14" steel rims, I don't want to change these.
So that is me and my Aspen.
I'm just trying to find out about those brackets and if they are available and if they would work with 14" steel rims.
Thanks for your time.
Cool cars.
