What a pain in the ars! Plan was to change out about a dozen boards. Then found where the railing post attaches was rotted. That board goes all the way across the steps. They are actually hung from the second joist, so it is doable without disturbing stairs. But all the decking has to come up. I had put new boards on that part within the last couple years, so they are good. However, the wood I used was undersized and when dry have 1/2" gaps. :eek: Anyway decided to rip it all off and fix it. Which meant another trip to Homely Depot to pick up another pile of overpriced scrap wood. Friggin massive knots... I will put the small boards out at the end so they can all be changed together in the future if needed.
