Interesting thoughts and observations on OD transmissions

Yes, stock converter (1800)
The 3.55 gears with the low first of the 42RH makes things pretty fun in town, though I did twist a driveshaft in half and had a stronger built.
OD with lockup gets me about 2,200 at 80mph.
The cam from Oregon Cams was selected and ground for good torque.
214/224@50 with .512 lift and 110 lsa for a little sound.

I’m running a Holley 770 Street Avenger, vacuum secondary and electric choke. (With some light mods)
New Zealand EQ heads, 1.92 valves and LA style intake mounting, Hughes 1110 springs with the retainer and locks kit that allows the .512 lift without running into the positive style stem seals.

I have a 8.25 1973-4 A body diff with a Dakota limited slip that bolted right in with different carrier bearings, and the factory Dakota disc brakes that also bolted right on.
I did have to add longer wheel studs due to the discs being added.

I recorded a video but it was trash. Maybe I'll try it again.

Sounds like a well thought out build. The 3.55 + 2.74 1st would be great for me. I lost a bit of low end torque when I put on the short runner M1, so the 3.23 + 2.45 1st isn't quite as torquey as it was before. I have a 2500 rpm converter so it's balancing out a little, but I'll be happier once I get a 3.73 installed.

I wish I could cam up to what you're running, but the factory Magnum tune won't allow anything with more than 114° LSA. I'm stuck with 208/214@50 with .523 lift and 114° LSA, and factory heads. I should have bought a set of those NZ EQs 10 years ago when everyone was raving about them!
