999 Lock-Up Transmission / change input shaft to non LU?

I have a v8 904 with a bad case I can rob parts from. I would need the drum, input shaft, pump out of the 904 correct?
Unless your 998 is non-lockup, (not likely) that is incorrect. Lockup parts DO NOT interchange with the non-lockup parts. You can convert a lockup unit to a basic non-lockup the way you suggest but the large, 5 clutch drums from the 999 won't fit without the right input shaft and pump. They may look close but there are slight differences that won't allow a straight swap.
