Will a '73 Continental Mark IV tranny fit into a '74 Swinger with a 318?

Regarding the car...I like the dark green, too. Supposedly factory color, but certainly NOT original paint. When it finally arrived to me - at 10:30pm - I couldn't really see much of it. Come daylight I was pretty disappointed in its condition. Had dents, scratches, paint issues that were not noticeable in any pics. Far worse than what I expected, but no rust at all. Steering and front end are a little loose. It was still an OK deal, considering the condition of other similar darts at much higher $$. Had I seen it in person and driven it first, I prob never would have bought it.
That Challenger, though.... holy crap. That is beautiful. Kick yourself once for me. What did you pay for that in 2002?

$24000.00 Canadian. I was the first guy there with a grand in my pocket to have him hold it for a week for me, which he did, because I had to go out of town for a business trip. Car had been basically parked since 1980, other than the odd jaunt up and down the road to keep the juices flowing. After it became mine, went to a customers shop and went over it with an ice pick and a fine tooth comb. ZERO rust. It was in need of a tuneup (all original 1974 parts), hoses, belts, and the like, so that had to be taken care of. It had the tires on it that were new in 1978. Had the invoice for the tires and the mileage at time of the purchase was around 28000++ or so, so a set of BF Goodrich TA'S were put on. Other than at, not very much else was needed.
As far as your dart goes, if the fender tag is still on the drivers inner fender apron, you should be able to determine what the car came with originally. I just find it funny, that your mechanic who you says knows transmissions, can't tell you what transmission is bolted up to your MOPAR 318 engine.
