Orange Box in 74 Duster
In 1974 by Federal mandate, new cars sold in America had to have a system that prevented the car from being started IF the front seat belts were NOT engaged. If you got into the car and didn't connect the seat belt, THAT orange box (wired into the electrical system AND to sensors in the seats and seat belts) prevented the starter from getting power to engage.
By 1975, excessive complaints had resulted in a reversal of the mandate.
