Lockup to non-lockup question(s)

Good morning Charlie, I'm looking to add an OD.(Bring rpms down on hwy drives).
Which to my understanding would be adding another gear.
I am hoping to do this with least amount of mods as possible.
I'm not sure the difference in LU or non LU.
