Damn! Damn! Damn!

Good god, it was just a suggestion. I had no idea people felt so strongly about storing photos online. It's funny though, I'd bet almost all of you conduct online banking and don't think twice....
Given that analogy I guess I look at it this way:

Banking institutions have rules, restrictions, and oversight ("guardrails", if you will) regarding data privacy. Sure, bad actors can (and do) hack into them, but at least it's not easy for them.

Cloud storage companies, on the other hand, have little to none of these things, and when someone who worked (newly retired) for a cloud storage company says that even he wouldn't use, or recommend using, their services, and then explains why (lack of data privacy, losing control or ownership of your files, etc), I tend to listen to him.
