Cam help

When I worked at the local Chevy dealer, we were all at the Atlanta training facility.....this was about 1989 I guess. They had a small block on a run stand that had tall valve covers with all kinda wires running through them. It was a camshaftless engine. It used solenoids to actuate the valves. They fired it off and it was just a stock sounding 5.7. Then he changed the program mid run and it sounded like a drag car. They could put any program in it they wanted. I've always wondered what happened to that project.
Electric valves we have talked about in the year's past... i think yr poo poo'ed all over it and I've been told by his followers not to question him...
I thought it was a fun idea...
