Question about LA cylinder head dimensions
Hello Everyone:
I'm new here on the board after having been a lurker for years, but not new to performance vehicles and engine building. My Mopar is a Slant6 64 Valiant 4spd and soon to be 5 spd, owned since 1993, but I grew up racing Pontiacs and still own my high school purchases of a 70 GTO, followed by a 64 GTO.
That being said, I have a question for you small block Mopar guys. I just built (this week) an on engine valve compressor tool for myself to use on /6 engines, for which I have many extra rocker shafts.
But I need to use it on a 360" Duster engine to install the inner springs after cam break-in. I need to machine a stub shaft so I don't have to completely disassemble the 360 rocker assembly. I have searched the internet for hours, ask of the /6.org forum (no response). I'm hoping someone here has a head or shaft around to measure. I just need a ruler measurement of the distance between the posts, or holes in the shaft, I can slot the holes to account for not perfect alignment. But I have no idea whether it's 5" or 6" or whatever. The car is far enough away that it is not cost or time effective for me to go there just for a measurement, and the owner isn't gonna pull a valve cover and do it for me because of his own time issues.
Thanks to anyone that can help
Karl
