6.4l budget build….kind of

Sounds like my build, running all holley gear that i am picking up cheap here and there, just purchased a srt 300 6.4, about to strip it down and rebuild looking to make 550-600hp. Do you need to get rid of vvt if going a decent size cam? I’ll get rid of the MDS as this what causes most of the cam issues etc from what i have read, are you keeping the MDS?

I eliminated MDS and I’m using a cam phaser lock out. MDS isn’t really necessary unless you are trying to save fuel. If you run any cam with high lift or long duration then yes, you will need to run a cam phaser lock out or limiter. Lots of cam choices out there.
