plane crash at Pomona

I wonder if there was an in-flight medical emergency. I can't imagine the pilot would intentionally fly right into the pits.

Airplanes are supposed to be there, they can't land any other way because the airfield is right across the street from the racetrack and the approach is over the Pomona fairgrounds and drag strip. Probably ran out of fuel or the engine quit.

At times watching the winternationals or finals on TV you can see low flying airplanes.
