I've witnessed our Sheriff, Butch Reese stand in the middle of our O'Reilly store when I worked there and say "I'll deputize every one of you in here and as many others as I need to keep law and order in Jones County". This was back when a "certain demographic" was threatening to riot pretty much everywhere in the country after the George Floyd debacle. He meant every word of it too and he can do it. He's a good old dude.
