Performance is not sought. I wrote it above.

This is mostly the problem with mufflers getting smaller inside the muffler. The exhaust pipe is 2 inches. Most mufflers neck down to 1-7/8 or so. This is not an issue with the low compression 318z
After that, I have always echoed what you wrote. Works like a charm.

Still in MN yet, sold the truck with the FX-Sound dual exhaust and resonators.

I have the Stock single 2 1/2" exhaust system on the '89 318 D100 that is in FL now. I like the sound of that one and no resonators, tailpipe exists behind passenger rear wheel. It is quiet, I like the tone of it, it wakes up when the 4 bbl opens up. Win, Win !
