My Luck
Don't feel too bad. I bet everybody on this forum (probably even our distinguished
@toolmanmike @RustyRatRod and
@67Dart273) have a similar story.
I have yet to figure out the damn light/ lighting switch on my 04 GMC. It's al Arabic / Bohemian/ Russian icons that mean nothing to me. One is a depiction of (I guess) a lamp sort of tilting down. I thought it was the cargo light. No, it's the fog lights up front. And I drove around for awhile with the cargo light on. AND you cannot lock the headlights OFF. The switch is spring return to "auto" so EVERY time I fire it up, normally parked under the carport, it will turn on the headlights even on a bright sunny morning. So EVERY time I leave home, it's that much more wear and tear on the switch and the lamp filaments, because they gt cycled every single time.
So if they weren't "auto all the time", the manual function is not bad, But then you have three more buttons which I cannot see driving, have to duck my head down around the steering but even when I see them half the time I can't figure out which is supposed to be which, and the icons are not that definitive, specially in the dark.
Then there's the heat/ AC control which is impossible to operate without taking your eyes off the road.
Left and right knobs, unlabled, are left and right temp, and have no stops and no pointers. They are encoders, so they just free wheel. You must eyeball the display to see what the temp is. The button bottom right of the display cycles between low head, dash vents, defrost, or combo, and you must look at the display while pushing it multiple times to see WTF. None of these are "braille friendly" and are too easy to bump and push, so you cannot do this by "feel" while bumping down the street.
Very bottom left with the circle turns the whole thing off, and it doesn't always remember the previous settings so you have to start all over. Fan up down is left of the display and again you must multiple push it while eyeballing the display. "I guess" the depiction of "the car" is the recirculation, not NOT intuitive, and the snowflake turns on the compressor. The far right bottom is the rear window defroster, and I've yet to figure out the difference between the defrost symbol to it's left and the multiple choice function above it. I hate this ****. I would love to get the CEO of GM, the idiots who head DOT and "Nitsa" (NHTSA) and crack their frickin heads together.
