Rubber tip on the brake rod

When the pedal is released, the pedal and pushrod are stopped by the brake lite switch, so for the rod to move back almost 3/4 of an inch to clear the master bore and fall out.
Somehow that'd require moving the brake lite switch, either removal or bend the **** outta it.
It's a captured piece of rubber tube with a relief in the side for compression, no heat, sun, fluid, solvent, to " disintegrate" it in that near perfect environmental conditions.
Can a nail safely be used as a cotter pin, it's harder, stronger than a cotter pin, but some would argue its dangerous cuz it's not a factory style cotter pin.
Can you add a 2¢ shim to a crush sleeve, and re-crush it to spec, or ship in a new crush sleeve., what about when there are no crush-sleeves avail ?
People think if it's not outta a catalog, it's not viable.
Hotrodding was all " not viable ".
