Just an fyi, if you happen to be ordering a new adjustable pushrod, it will come with it, I just checked the one I just bought from Dr Diff and it came already attached

I agree with the "do it right" crowd because we are few who even have these cars and how many hours have we spent un doing hacks from previous owners. I have had to replace whole dash frames and whole wiring harnesses because of previous owner hacks.

I hear ya there, having to spend time, money and precious strands of hair just to fix crap that some previous owner monkey-fucked is maddening.
And I agree with @junkyardhero , once I started seeing things that have been hacked I start to wonder what else has been cheaped out on, and how much is it gonna cost me in the long run.
