Cleaning Out Bearing Debris

I'm cleaning the inside of my 360 thoroughly, because a rod bearing spun and put metal through the engine.

I did this once before about 30 years ago because of a wiped cam. (I've also done it to freshly machined blocks, crank, rods, etc.)

I can't remember what we did about the (hydraulic, in this case, too) lifters. I don't ever remember disassembling lifters, let alone doing it to clean them.

Do lifters get metal in them?
