How much oil 440?

If you are unsure of the amount of oil to add (ASSUMING you have the stock dipstick and tube installed)



Add 5 qts (4 for the pan and one for the filter) and then start the engine let it run at normal idle for a couple minutes to get the oil filter filled and the oil to the galleys etc. Shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes, then check the dip stick.

NOTE: your running it short periods to prevent the oil from getting hot and expanding the oil

It may not show on the dipstick but don't worry, you have a larger capacity pan and there is sure to be oil to be picked up.

Now add another quart, now you have 6 qts in (5 for the pan and 1 for the filter) and start and let it run for a couple minutes. Shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes, then check the dip stick.

repeat till you have the oil at the full line.

Be sure to keep track of how much oil you put in and you will know.

THEN as a final check let it sit overnight and check it cold in the morning. It should be at or just below the full line
