Also, you could fit a 1/4 nut and bolt or something in the slot to keep the cable at the top of the pedal slot for a little more travel at the carb linkage.
Try to make sure the pedal travel stops just before (or right at) WOT at the carb linkage to help prevent premature cable failure.
